Dr Joy Chen (Dentist)

Dr Joy Chen, DentistDr Joy always loved art and science, and for her, dentistry is a combination of both. She is passionate about helping patients of all ages achieve confident smiles.

Dr Joy focuses on providing gentle, high-quality and patient-oriented care. Before she joined our practice team, Dr Joy worked with a cosmetic dentist in Sydney and in the public sector (Queensland Health).

Education and Professional Development

To prepare for her career as a dentist, Dr Joy earned a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland. She graduated with Honours in 2017. During her studies, she received the Australian Society of Periodontology Prize and the David Dunlop Memorial Prize in Orthodontics.

To stay abreast of the latest in the field, Dr Joy takes many continuing education courses. These include an aesthetic composite resin restorations workshop as well as digital onlays and crowns. She also attended an Airway conference and is currently taking the IAADent comprehensive orthodontics course.

Outside the Practice

When she’s not working, Dr Joy enjoys painting, exploring new places for food and travel. She also likes going on bush walks. Dr Joy is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She went to Cambodia for volunteer dentistry and worked with disabled, medically compromised and orphaned children in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. For her, it was a very eye-opening memorable experience that made her realise the importance of preventative dental care.
